ROCCAT Kone Pro Air Mouse Review

I’ve had my previous wireless ROCCAT mouse since 2019, so figured that I might as well upgrade when I was asked if I wanted to review the ROCCAT Kone Pro Air. While the battery life was still decent, technology is always moving forwards and I wanted to stop running out of power after three days of forgetting to charge it.

The ROCCAT Kone Pro Air came with a PhantomFlex USB-C cable to charge it, and I’ve honestly never felt a cable that was so flexible and unrestrictive. It’s not too dissimilar to the strings you get on hoodies or jogging bottoms. I’m not a fan of how it plugs into the mouse, however, as it’s far too easy to push it in at the wrong angle and have to fiddle around with it. It’s better than my old mouse, but still a slight annoyance.

The body of the mouse is the same length, but a little wider than my previous mouse, and almost imperceptibly not as deep. I say almost, because it took me a couple of days to adjust my grip — my hand could definitely tell the difference.

One definite improvement comes in the Titan Wheel Pro, an aluminium scroll wheel. Previous wheels have felt a little spongy when clicked, compared to the almost old school-sounding click of the Titan Wheel. Though I honestly hadn’t noticed that it’s metal during use, and I would have sworn that it was hard plastic.

The Kone Pro Air weighs 75 grams and has a 19K DPI Owl-Eye optical sensor, and provides over 100 hours of use on a full charge. The underside has three PTFE skates, replacements of which are included in the box.

Something that is a mere footnote in the press release, which really downplays the Kone Pro Air’s capabilities in my eyes, is the fact that it has dual connectivity. Using the switch on the underside, it can connect to a device via the USB dongle, or can connect to any Bluetooth-capable device. Be honest, did you know that a little mouse cursor will show up if you connect a mouse to your Android phone? Because I sure didn’t! Save on your tapping finger by connecting the Pro Air to your tablet, or make more accurate selections in city builders and the like.

Speaking as a fan of ROCCAT products, the ROCCAT Kone Pro Air Mouse is my favourite so far. It moves smoothly, is accurate, and hasn’t once given me a phantom click when I didn’t click. I was easily able to set the RGB to purple using the ROCCAT Swarm app, too.
