Sweet Candy Fever Review

From the company that brought us Bubble Island: Birds World comes Sweet Candy Fever. This time around, it’s a match three or more game where, as far as I can tell, you play as a good witch who is making brews with the candies you’re matching. The game doesn’t really tell you what’s going on, so you have to assume the story. There isn’t a lot different between this game and all of the other match-three games, but it is cute and still has the oddly addicting feature that match-three’s tend to have.

Sugame, the developer, again has some issues with naming the game. As found in Bubble Island: Birds World, Sweet Candy Fever may also be called Magic Candy depending on where you’re looking. Either way, there is no story, it’s just a simple game that reminded me a lot of the old board game CandyLand.

Currently there are 250 levels and more coming soon. As you go through the levels, more and more power ups will become available. Match four, you get a powered up candy that can clear a whole line, and five will give you a candy-colored bomb to use. Make sure to collect all of the candies that the witch specifically needs so that she can make her brew, though, and in the moves allotted to you.

Really, there isn’t a lot to say about Sweet Candy Fever. It reminded me instantly of a more superior match-three that I’ve played far too much, Fishdom, but with absolutely no story and nothing really build toward like a fish tank. There are limited lives and if you use them up you will have to wait for them to accumulate again or purchase more. You will also find ads after each level that can get repetitive fast, especially if a level only takes you a minute or two. Though they all seem to be skippable after five seconds at least.

If you’re colorblind, you may have some problems with this title. There are a lot of purple/red colored items and I spent probably a minute staring at a level trying to figure out just what it wanted me to do to finish. I didn’t notice the purple block I had to break until I realized something was flashing as it was surrounded by other purple-ish things. The music is also extremely repetitive and, while it’s cute at first, it can get annoying rather fast. I would recommend turning it off.

If it wasn’t for some of the ads that I got being for a relationship game of some sort, I would definitely say this would be great for kids. All in all, Sweet Candy Fever is not a terrible game, and it loads quickly, but there are better match-three games out there. If you love match-three games, though, and want something else that works practically the exact same way, then this game is definitely for you.
